Overview : Study of The U.S Institutes on Global Environmental Issues 2014

ALOOOHA!!

Did you guys miss me already? It’s been more than six weeks ago, the last time I posted something into this lovely though such an amateur blog, haha. And I am so hilarious today that every Muslim in all over the world has to face the holy time, Ramadhan in thirty days onward. Happy fasting everyone, May God grants all of our prayer.

Well, in this belated opportunity I am going to come up with introduction, what is SUSI program?

SUSI stands for Study of The US Institutes, a part of abundant programs held by Government of United States (Department of State) through the US embassy that has bilateral cooperation with certain countries. SUSI has some branches of subject that differentiate its focus. The one which I am recently involved is SUSI on Global Environmental Issues. The first officially recognized YSEALI (Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiatives) program that brought vibrant young people from various countries in South East Asia to develop their leadership skills as well as preparing them to address the 21st century challenges on environmental aspect.

This year’s program invited nineteen young people from five countries in ASEAN to participate such as Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Singapore and The Philippines.  Do you want to know how do they look like, their accomplishments and to-implement projects as well?  Check it out here à YSEALI 2014 Participants.

For your information, we wore our traditional or national costume to characterize our local identity, and for mine I was wearing traditional attire, particularly ‘Silat’ costume from Sumatera Barat hehe :D

What makes me grateful, been chosen on this ‘cool’ program is actually indescribable. Besides met new awe-inspiring friends, you probably find some new different things about The US and their daily life. I got more learning style on how you build the team, come up with solution to overcome your own surrounding problems and the most important one, you are about to know yourself deeper after complete the entire learning process.

You will have an experience to explore United states for five weeks which comprises Hawaii for three weeks in a different perspective, then move to Boulder, Colorado to feel the sense living in the Top 10 greenest city in The U.S and finalized your great day up there in the capital city, Washington D.C.

First three weeks

The first place to visit would be Honolulu in Oahu Island, Hawaii. Learn specifically about agriculture by visiting Hawaii Agricultural Research Center, creating idea to preserve natural resources in Hawai’i and discussing the development of renewable energy with Hawaiian family within three days home stay program. On our free day, my colleagues and I proved the beauty of Hawaiian Island by visiting The Great Diamond Head, Well known Waikiki Beach and many other great landmarks.  Is that exciting enough? Yes, for sure. Let’s check the complete story here (to be released soon).
